TRADES

we seem to be getting a fair amount of scam reports through at the moment

please remember the rules of not doing trades outside the official routes is there to protect YOU

Admin and us as mods cannot get things back to you and by agreeing to trades such as i'll give you x item and y horse for your horse called z it puts both players in the wrong. the scammer for doing the scamming, the scammed player for going into the trade

Unfortunately in this world not everyone is honest and we do not like seeing these things happen

so to summarise
horse trades... don't do them
item trades.... use the item exchanges

don't trade horses for anything other than passes and equus.
this is for your own protection, while we do sypathise things happen if things are done how you are advised to scamming won't happen.

if someone offers you a trade please remind them that it's not allowed or send through as a pm report for us to deal with

Just to check, as I have seen some top players advertising on their pages, buy 4 pass horses for 500e and 1 pass, then get a 5th one free. (Just an example, obviously some people do it with different numbers, but the concept is the same).

Would this be classified as a scam, because they could end up not selling you the last pass horse for only 500e?

Not a scam if they actually do what they state.

The problem with trades like this is that that they circumvent the normal sale options. If something goes askew then the Mods or Admins can do nothing. Now this is if it is a trade for trade with no BM items or passes used.

When BM items or passes are involved it is trafficking and sanctions can result. Any service given where BM items or passes are involved where those services have a normal Howrse option, the people involved can get into trouble. An example of this that I saw on the International server is paying passes for boarding in ECs. The reason could be a private forum or a specially high level EC not normally available to regular players.

The best thing to follow is just the regular Howrse options and you will not get into trouble.

And for future reference, I would suggest you go directly to those who can explain, with authority, the rules to you on Howrse; our moderators. Taking advice from fellow players may find you on the receiving end of the Howrse staff's scorn... if you were to follow the false advice of fellow players it will be you getting into trouble. default smiley ;)

Soaring hooves is correct and if you take a quick look at this thread in events

It explains trafficking very clearly. Sorry but I should have mentioned it sooner.

I have contacted a mod about the "Buy 4 pass horses for 500e and 1 pass, get 1 pass horse for 500e" deal and this is what they said:

Yes, it is trafficking because the player selling the pass horses can't sell them all in one transaction, but in five separate ones. If it is possible to be scammed, it is probably trafficking.

So to answer the question once and for all, yes, it counts as trafficking! default smiley :)

You don't even have to be new to know that this is bad.

Every player should read this so they can understand and the scammers should stop now.

try going in to your horses auction screen and refreshing the page or contacting the bidder

Is selling more than one horse in a job lot in an auction or direct sales trafficking?

are you sure you dont have 2 horses with same name perhaps?

I did a trade that said buy four pass horses for 50k get one for 500e, never considered that it was not allowed (didn't manage to work out that it could be scam and was against the rules) and then they said as it was really hard to make them pass horses it would be 100,000k. so it was too late to turn back, and had to pay it. Much more careful now. Like howrse2902 said, is that scam? to advertise that if you pay lots for one or more horse(s), then get one really cheap? And if it isn't, is it to then say you have to pay more for one or they don't give you the 500e horse?
Thanks
To clarify, horses can only be sold individually. There is no system in place that allows players to sell horses in groups, therefore trades such as 'buy x amount of horses and get a horse at a reduced cost' etc classes as trafficking and isn't allowed.

If you are ever unsure of what is and isn't allowed on the game, please always contact a Moderator (usernames in green listed at the top of each forum) in the first instance for questions relating to rules, rather than speculating in the community. Anyone that has fallen victim to trafficking can report the player so that we can take action accordingly, however unfortunately we cannot help you regain any lost horses or items as a result of the risky trade.

That's how some people make 'their' money. They find it easier to scam and sell on.

You can create a topic in the game play forum to ask any questions. In this case, go to Community > Friends > Under the last colum next to your friends name (labelled "Manage") click the button *next* to the big red one, when you hover over it it shoud say "Edit Friendship". By doing so you can give your friends a caption as well as choose where they are on your friends list.
