TRADES

we seem to be getting a fair amount of scam reports through at the moment

please remember the rules of not doing trades outside the official routes is there to protect YOU

Admin and us as mods cannot get things back to you and by agreeing to trades such as i'll give you x item and y horse for your horse called z it puts both players in the wrong. the scammer for doing the scamming, the scammed player for going into the trade

Unfortunately in this world not everyone is honest and we do not like seeing these things happen

so to summarise
horse trades... don't do them
item trades.... use the item exchanges

don't trade horses for anything other than passes and equus.
this is for your own protection, while we do sypathise things happen if things are done how you are advised to scamming won't happen.

if someone offers you a trade please remind them that it's not allowed or send through as a pm report for us to deal with

Your best bet is to ask a mod. It isn't a good idea for me to explain the way some scams work as there could be someone that will read this and take my information to be used in the wrong way.

A mod can explain some things to avoid and it will be in private.

What's a mod? I'm kind of new about these scams sorry
the players with green names are mods. Like storm 2284, the player that wrote this topic. She has described common scams very well. If you don't do deals outside of the game systems you don't need to worry about scams. Use your common sense, and if you have doubts, pm a mod and ask their advice.

you shouldn't be doing it at all Spap, it is actually against the rules

storm224. i have just been reading this discussion as i did not realise this was against game rules and have found it really useful however i then noticed that on your page presentation it says "i am looking for a bee companion please pm me your price" would this technically be allowed as i didnt think you are able to exchange companions on the item exchange?

You can't, but purchasing a horse with the companion directly for passes/equus is perfectly fine, and would be the same as looking to buy a horse with any other desired quality (Golden Apple, 5th Element, even a rare coat colour, etc.). That falls within the methods provided by the game, and would not be an illegal trade.

Since it’s not a feature the game provides, I very much doubt it would be allowed

outside trades for real money is very easily exploitable and would very likely lead to scams

If you’re gonna use real money, surely it makes more sense to just buy passes and buy items via black market or trade things than externally buying them anyway!

Buying anything outside of Howrse is not allowed and considered trafficking.

Head over to the Item or Pass Trafficking topic for more info.

are we aloud to discuss trades on here?
No. This is just for clarification/awareness about trades.

You can advertise on your profile page or your EC page but that’s about it (aside from naming the horse based on sale points when you put it up for sale?)

Okay! How do I put stuff on my profile? Thanks!
You just click edit profile in classic mode. I suggest making an actual game play question if you need further info
