Weather & Seasons
Every season lasts one week on Howrse
Autumn: Starts first day of every month to the 7th
Winter: 8th to the 14th
Spring: 15th to the 21st
Summer: 22nd until last day of the month
This rule is always followed every in real life month.Season impacts crop production and grass growth in meadows. You cannot plant certain crops outside of their planting season and there is more grass in fertile meadows during Spring & Summer, whereas in Winter grass is more scarce.
Crops and their planting season(s)Apples Oats Wheat
Pass Seeds Flax Alfalfa
Carrots
You cannot grow anything during Winter
If you want to grow crops that're not in season, you can plant them in a greenhouse if you have one (or more) in your Equestrian Centre. Otherwise you will have to wait until the right season comes around.
You cannot grow apples & pass seeds in a greenhouse and therefore you will need to plant them during their growing season within one of your meadows.Sizes of your greenhouses and/or meadows impacts how much quantity you will receive during harvest.
Please be considerate and ask me for permission directly via DM or through the Howrse discord if you wish to use the below information. I have spent time writing this to help the community. Thank you x
BLUPPING
What is BLUPPING and why is it so important?
First of all, let’s learn what BLUP actually stands for: Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (you may find some other people referring to it as Best Linear Unbiased Production or Best Linear Unbiased Projection).
BLUP is an indicator of how much % of training has been completed for that particular horse and the ability for that horse to pass on its genetic to its offspring.
You will notice a bar with some numbers,-100 and 100 underneath the bar and a number directly to the right in line with the bar. -100 is the lowest number a horse can have and 100 is the maximum. As the bar fills up yellow the number on the right will change. From -100 to 0 the number will decrease in number size whilst from 0 to 100 will increase in number size.
BLUPPING is a very important factor if you wish to provide the best lineages. The process is also a must when working alongside a team.
Here’s how it works: If both parents of the offspring have 100 BLUP, you’re more likely to have a foal that will have higher inborn skills at just a few hours old and a higher genetic potential. If both parents have negative BLUP, your foal will end up with 0 inborn skills.
What skills are gained from what rides?
Forest: Dressage, Gallop, Jumping
Mountain: Speed, Stamina, Trot
Beach Rides: Beach rides do not gain the horse any skills, however, it does allow you to transfer x amount of skills from one skill to the other.
How to BLUP
I will explain this in numbered stages as it's a somewhat lengthy process.
It may look long but don't worry! Once you have your head around it and you know what you're doing, you'll be BLUPPING a horse to 100 in the matter of 15-30 minutes! This is not a skiller guide, I will include a how to produce a skiller guide in the future. Skillers still require a blupping process but with the addition of BMI items (some required and some optional)EXAMPLE HORSE: Fault in Our Stars
1. Age horse to 6 months
2. Register a horse in a Forest EC that has a shower & trough available.
3. Do the foal games until you cannot gain anymore skills from it - make sure you are careful about this as you only have the chance to complete foal games up until 1 year and 6 months.
4. Do forest rides until you cannot gain anymore skills from it.
5. Train the top 3 disciplines for that breed until maxed in the bar within "Training".
INFO:
The example horse I have given is a horse produced by me for the team Up The Ante. If you go to the Genetics tab (almost located just above the horses age) you will see it's genetic potential. Do not be confused with looking at the skills for the GP potential - so ignore the skills box completely. Locate the top 3 disciplines (highest numbers), the example horses top disciplines are Speed, Dressage and Jumping.
6. Do beach rides to reduce the horses skill from its worst discipline to its top discipline
INFO:
The example horses worst skill is trot, so by doing beach rides you are taking skills from trot and adding them to it's top skill which is jumping.
7. Enter and win 20 competitions
INFO:
This is different for each breed of horse you are blupping, when you click on a competition you will see 3 disciplines at the top. The very top discipline is the primary discipline for that competition. Choosing the correct riding discipline will help with blupping (english or western) as each competition has different skill focuses. Having VIP allows you to change your horses discipline at any time though it's life so if you're able to afford VIP then I recommend choosing this as a benefit. For the example horse, we would pick western riding and focus on Western Pleasure.
