Hiya, I am Laura, a 21 year old university student! I have just completed my degree in BSc (hons) Biology at Bath Spa University with a 2.1 and am returning to university to study for my PGCE in secondary science at the same university. I have a keen interest in microbiology and how microbes can affect food spoilage and I also have an interest in antibiotic producing microbes. As a third year, I have to do a dissertation which contributes to a large part of my degree classification: I'm looking at how Listeria monocytgenes is affected by food preservation methods (pH and salt concentrations) as well as whether it can grow successfully at refrigeration temperatures making ready-to-eat foods at high risk of harbouring the pathogen. I have been a member of Howrse on and off throughout the years (on both this server and the international server) and have had this account since 2011! This is why my username is charlie+chunky; because they were the names of my two guinea pigs when I was 12 years old :)

I am now the human of one black and white cat named Rosie who was born in 2012 and we got in 2013 from an animal sanctuary. Rosie is my cat and she is very cuddly and fluffy; she will 'talk' to the people she knows (aka my family and I) and she loves a good lap to sit on for hours on end. On the 28th of August 2019, we unfortunately had to have Toby (our other cat; sibling to Rosie) put to sleep due to rapid deterioration in his health.

Toby was only 7 years old and he will be greatly missed as he was the family cat. He was a lot more reserved than his sister and he would only come to you if you have food on offer but he did meet you when he heard the car pull up outside the house which is adorable!

I am a proud geek and love everything from Star Wars to quietly reading a book and yes as an English person I also love tea! By the way that is real tea not the tea that you find in America (you know the tea bags which you add milk to).

Well anything disney, is a comedy or an action movie I suppose I would watch. Some examples being; Moana, Star Wars, The Hobbit (it had to make a second appearance) and the LOTR (hopefully you get that reference to an epic trilogy) and TV shows like the Game of Thrones are strong favourites in my books.

I used to ride when I lived at home with my parents but unfortunately cannot afford to ride regularly at the moment: I ride when I can!. But, in the near future (realistically within the next 5 years or so) I will get my own horse!
